How do extraordinary experiences for teachers translate into extraordinary experiences for their students? How can close encounters with the deep power of the natural world and our connection to it change a teacher's worldview, and change their students lives?
The intent of the series is to address these questions, celebrate the art of teaching, and toserve as a powerful call-to-action through experiences "Inspire Me! Africa" will carry the theme of life-changing experience further -- a 2-week trip to Africa rather than a 2-hour flight in Zero- G.
We will be immersed in the heart of life on Earth, utterly unfamiliar cultures, and have the opportunity to examine the impact on the lives of our teachers both while in Africa and for several months afterwards as the experience continues the shape their lives upon returning.
As a film about inspiring teachers and students through life-changing experiences, this documentary will chronicle the “full-circle” journey of the featured participants at each stage of their adventure. In the film, we will take an in depth look at each individual’s journey from an introspective and personal level as both a professional educator and a human being, while focusing on their newfound personal connection to one of the most powerful and intriguing places on planet earth – AFRICA!
Through the documentary, we will communicate their unique stories as a result of their African experiences in terms of their teaching, attitudes and beliefs about global issues and experiential education, their own students, and themselves. The narrative of the film will be that of an uncommon adventure in education leading to personal discoveries about the nature of teaching and learning, transformations of the professional identities of teachers, and the best ways to communicate and extend their extraordinary experiences in Africa into inspiring experiences for their students.
