Trek
On Kilimanjaro we will be traveling a vertical cross-section of the Earth's biosphere in 4-days -- from rainforest to glacial conditions at nearly 20,000 feet -- and encountering life every step of the way.
On the Serengeti we will be visiting 11 locations, home to some of the most diverse and remarkable life and landforms on the planet. We will be taking along an astrobiologist and geologist and hopefully some others to join the adventure as co-experiencers but also as guides to offer unique perspectives for our teachers. In bringing this experience back to their students and colleagues, these teachers will be charged with generating student activities, crating opportunities for activism on behalf of the environment and conservation of life, inspiring other teachers to get out and explore, serving as powerful role models for their students that one person CAN bring about awareness, hope and change in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

15 Day Itinerary
Days 1-3:
Reaching Africa from Denver requires two days of flights- Denver to London, on to Nairobi, on to Moshi, Tanzania. When we arrive in Moshi, We will be transferred from the Kilimanjaro Airport to the Keys Hotel where we will spend the first two nights.
Days 4-8:
The next morning after a hearty breakfast, Land Rovers will drive us to the mountain to begin the journey. We will be trekking the Rongai
route. We will be on the mountain six days. The average hiking day begins between 8-9am and is about 5 to 6 hours, walking very, very slowly.
Days 9-15 - The Safari
Morning drive to Lake Manyara. Afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara with lunchboxes. Dand dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Lodge.
Day 10:
After breakfast, drive to Lake Natron across the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Moivaro Lake Natron Lengai hike.
Day 11:
Morning on Lengai, afternoon resting, overnight Moivaro Lake Natron Camp.
Day 12:
Drive to Serengeti, overnight Lobo Wildlife Lodge.
Day 13:
Serengeti, full day game drive, overnight Moivaro Serengeti Tented Camp.
Day 14:
Drive to Ngorongoro, private tour of Olduvai Gorge, visit Maasai village, overnight Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.
Day 15:
Ngorongoro, morning game drive, afternoon drive to Arusha. Overnight Jacaranda Hotel before heading back home.
